Sakhi Log
This book presents stories of generosity from the blessed lives of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his family (Ahl al-Bayt), and the Companions (Sahabah) that inspire a spirit of generosity and teach the way to safeguard wealth for the Hereafter. The generosity and magnanimity of the Prophet ﷺ are so well-documented that even biased and hostile non-Muslim historians are compelled to acknowledge him as the greatest philanthropist in history.
In addition, the Companions and female companions (Sahabiyat) were also blessed with the noble quality of generosity, which was unaffected by worldly temptations and distractions. Their entire capabilities were dedicated to the propagation of Islam and the elevation of the Word of Allah.
In the first chapter of this book, important introductory topics about generosity and magnanimity are discussed. It also outlines the Islamic approach to wealth distribution and expenditure. The teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith on these subjects are presented together. The second chapter highlights exemplary events from the life of the Prophet ﷺ, showcasing his unparalleled generosity, munificence, and magnanimity.
The third chapter focuses on the generosity of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, while the fourth chapter explores similar instances of generosity from the lives of the best generations after them, illustrating their ideal spirit of philanthropy. The fifth and final chapter collects stories of generosity and philanthropy from the rulers, scholars, and great spiritual leaders of the Indian subcontinent.
Today, the Muslim Ummah is facing a variety of challenges, and these issues are not hidden from anyone with insight. In such circumstances, it becomes an even greater responsibility for the wealthy and fortunate among the faithful to spend on charity. A wealthy person can earn more good deeds than they could ever imagine by spending their wealth in the way of Allah. In today’s world, demonstrating generosity has become not only a moral responsibility but also a social duty.
